Veterinary Services

Our Community Clinic offers spay/neuter services for local pet owners. During those surgery appointments, clients can elect to add services, including vaccines, treatment for fleas and worms, and a microchip.

Veterinary Services

Spay and Neuter Clinic
All healthy cats and dogs over the age of eight (8) weeks old and weighing at least two (2) pounds are eligible for surgery. 

All animals receive the following:
*Veterinarian Exam
*Sedation and Pain Medication
*General Anesthesia
*Spay or Neuter surgery performed by a licensed veterinarian (DVM)
*Tattoo on abdomen
*Cats/kittens and puppies will receive a small snack after recovery

End of Life Services
We currently do not have the availability to offer end of life services.  We will update the website when these services become available.

Scheduling 

If requested you must be able to show proof of income status. New appointments are added weekly and are reserved on a first come first serve basis. 
Full payment is due at the time of service. 
We do partner with several funding partners who can provide vouchers for services if you qualify.  The information on the voucher MUST match the appointment information (i.e. owner name/address, pet name).   
After making your appointment you should receive multiple emails with consent forms and reminders. If you do not receive any emails please reach out to [email protected].  DO NOT email requesting an appointment.  All appointment requests MUST be made through the website.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
If you have a surgery appointment at The Humane Society of Mason County on a day that is snowing or icy, please check the status of the North Mason School District before coming to your appointment. If the North Mason School District  is closed due to inclement weather, we will be closed that day as well, and we will contact you to reschedule. If schools have a two hour delay, we will still operate as normal.  Please arrive at your scheduled drop off time.
If you feel unsafe traveling to your appointment or anticipate you will be later than your scheduled drop off time, please email [email protected] to notify and/or reschedule.

Due to increasing demand for services, we have had to increase our staff numbers to accommodate and will have to implement minor price increases as of April 1, 2025.  Prices below reflect the increases in pricing.
Surgery After Care Instructions

DOGS

SPAY/NEUTER                                    $180
Includes a physical exam, spay or neuter surgery and take home pain medication.

RABIES VACCINE                                   $15
Pet must be over 3 months of age. Protects against a virus that affects the nervous system. Required by law in Washington state  and in most boarding and grooming facilities.
DA2PP  (Distemper/Parvo Vaccine)        FREE (Thank you Petco Luv for generous your grant)
Protects against distemper virus,  adenovirus, parainfluenza and parvovirus.  Recommend a booster in 2-4 weeks.
BORDETELLA VACCINE                       $15
Protects against kennel cough and other respiratory diseases.
LEPTOSPIROSIS VACCINE                  $15
Protects against Leptospirosis bacteria found in soil and water, mainly puddles, streams, lakes and rivers.  Recommend a booster in 2-4 weeks.
MICROCHIP                                            $25
Implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades. Microchip is registered with the address and phone number provided. Lasts the lifetime of the pet includes free lifetime registration with foundnaimlas.org
FLEA CONTROL   (send home)        $20
An oral flea prevention. Protects against fleas for 30 days.
CAPSTAR                                                  $9
An oral flea prevention to kill adult fleas for 24 hours.
***Capstar is mandatory if fleas noted in surgical area***
E-COLLAR/CONE                                 $10
A plastic "lampshade" type collar that prevents licking of the incision site.
WORMER                                                 $10
Pyrantel - A oral wormer that kills roundworms and hookworms.
TAPEWORM TREATMENT        $10 - $35
Injection given to treat Tapeworm infestations.  Price based on weight. 
NAIL TRIM (In Surgery)                          $8
The best time to have the nails trimmed is under anesthesia so we can get them as short as possible.

Trazodone ($15 + tax) - Used to help with sedation and relieving anxiety after surgery
Gabapentin ($15 + tax) - Used for additional pain control and sedation after surgery
(both medications only available for dogs over 4 months old)

CATS

SPAY/NEUTER                                      $95
Includes a physical exam, spay or neuter surgery and take home pain medication, for female cats.

RABIES VACCINE                                   $15
Pet must be over 3 months of age. Protects against a virus that affects the nervous system. Required by law in Washington state  and in most boarding and grooming facilities.

FVRCP  (Distemper/Parvo Vaccine)        FREE (Thank you Petco Luv for generous your grant)
Pet must be over 2 months of age. Protects against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus and Feline Panleukopenia. Recommend a booster in 2-4 weeks.

(Animal must have been seen within the last 12 months, must request 24-48 hours prior to pick up)

FeLV/FIV/HW Test                               $30
(Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, Heartworm)
**Please note, if a positive result is diagnosed, confirmatory testing will need to be done with your primary veterinarian.  We will provide you a handout with information about the positive result.

​In order to maintain a flea-free environment for all of our guests, all pets that arrive for surgery are inspected for evidence of flea infestation. If your pet is found to have fleas, it may be given CAPSTAR® flea treatment at an additional charge to you.

Volunteer Application
 While our clinics are staffed with a Veterinarian and a Licensed Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistants, we can't help the amount of animals we do without our dedicated volunteers. Volunteer opportunities range from client check in/check out, surgery prep, surgery recovery, cleaning, etc.
